Review on Toshiba MQ01ABD100 1TB 2.5" Internal Hard Drive by Justin Castro

Replacement for MacBook Pro

This hard drive works great in my MacBook Pro. While most people crave SSDs, I need high-capacity SATA drives, and this 1TB 2.5" HDD fits the bill (it's a true 1TB, 999.86GB drive usable space AFTER formatting). gave me 470GB of space and other 1TB drives that gave me 975GB or less of space). part of the operation. (2) I rebooted firewire as the boot drive to make sure it was bootable - and indeed it is. (3) I turned off the MacBook Pro, unscrewed the bottom screws (a few minutes), and when the cover is removed, only two screws (bracket) need to be removed that allow the hard drive to be removed. Screw the bottom case back on, boot, and you're done. (4) Next: Just copy the bootable backup to this new Toshiba (much faster, about 33% of the time than the original backup). Shutdown and reboot with no firewire drive connected. The actual hard drive replacement took less than 10 minutes (don't be afraid to do it yourself - don't pay someone over $100 to do it for you). My old hard drive was about 63% full - maybe that's why - but this drive is slightly faster than the 500GB OEM I removed from it (no, I haven't tested it, but the speed increase is obvious) . All in all this SATA works great, was an easy replacement in my MacBook Pro and the value for money makes this a 'value for money'.
