This affordable Crosley turntable is getting a little sleep. Yes, it's plastic and almost everything is fixed and not adjustable. Unlike its sturdy brethren, however, this cheap Crosley features an Audiotechnica moving magnet pickup and metal arm. When played back through an external phono stage, the sound sounds much better than it deserves (the internal preamp can be turned off, but I didn't use it). I use it with an old Scott receiver and Wharfdale Denton speakers and it's very musical. It doesn't have brilliance in the highs or particularly deep bass, but the mids are warm and clear and the stage design quality is excellent. It's very, very comfortable to listen to, no fatigue, just music. This budget player is very forgiving of old recordings, and clicks and clicks are reduced on poorly recorded recordings. A great garage, office, or kids' turntable if you're on a budget or just want to dust off and play old records without investing in a new system. Highly recommended.
