This little girl does math for her age and I was looking for a tool that could help her solve problems without resorting to electronic contraction. Her fingers and toes worked for a while, but she has very few of them left. Enter the abacus, a counting tool that has helped keep track of large numbers for thousands of years. No batteries or power adapter required. To my surprise, the child immediately got used to it and easily calculates large numbers. I also found it interesting how it remembers temporarily assigned seat stats without the need for a sticker or marker to indicate which is which. Nowadays, these abacus have become the subject of homework. Structurally, it's pretty well put together. The sides and base are made from beautiful, thick wood, with metal rods supporting each row of wooden beads. The metal rods are not thick, but not thin either. All parts are smooth, without sharp corners and splinters. In general, I and the child are delighted with the bills. I'm curious how long the baby can hold out on it.
