When I was testing these radios, my lieutenant was standing motionless at the kitchen table in my house. Then I walked out the front door onto the sidewalk, turned north, and kept walking while still checking in with my lieutenant on those walkie-talkies. We were able to communicate at a distance of about 200 meters. Then they became useless. I assume this was due to the houses (about 10) between the two walkie talkies. Thus, these devices are nothing more than children's toys in the neighborhood. Don't expect them to work over 150 yards in this application.
