Review on SUPERNIGHT Switching Universal Regulated Transformer by Ronny Goodman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

stable power supply. Great for Ham Shack operations.

Excellent product. Does exactly what it should. I like the ability to actually choose the exact output voltage. Mine was set to 12.5 and I dialed it to 12.8v. Almost discontinued and forgotten. It has been running for a few months now and the voltage remains stable with no drifts. For those who don't like working on 120V, note that you need to power the device with an input cord (I cut an old computer power cord, stripped the wires, soldered the connectors, and heat-shrunk the connectors). . I did the same for the 12V connections. All ports have a small plastic cover to protect against electric shock, but be aware there are hot wires that can be easily touched by stray fingers. Mine is on the side, but if you're more careful you can build a fence. I use it to run a 100-watt HF radio in my cabin, which is easily powered. Only when the antenna was out of tune and the SWR drifted did the cooling fan turn on. Now that I have an antenna tuner in my system, the PSU runs cool and doesn't even turn on the fan.

Pros
  • Smart chip provides overcharge/overload/short circuit/overheat protection, automatic recovery protection
Cons
  • Long delivery time
