I have two items that I really like. The thing about wood is that you can't really know what you're going to get because it's real and not factory made. I've tried two different methods to make/release tannins from Mopani. With the piece I bought before this order, I cooked wood for 8 hours, changing the water every hour. It required a lot of attention. I simply placed them in a bucket of water (treated with water conditioner) for 48 hours. I changed the water after 24 and it was very dark. I changed the water at the end and it was pretty light at the time. I put a larger chunk in the tank and there is no more tannin washout. I received a large piece and a smaller piece. I put the larger piece in my 29 gallon aquarium and just stuck it in the sand, it will stand on its own. I like the way it looks. The smaller piece looks pretty cool too and I placed it in my 10 gallon battle tank leaning against the wall. Betta loves to swim through a tunnel. The betta tank is darker in color because I added catappa leaves to make the water brown instead of woody. Beta loves it. Tannins are actually good for fish, but many people don't like the way they look. Overall I think the blade is fantastic for the price. Both parts look great in my aquariums.
