I bought this to replace the stock fan that was in my 7 year old PS4 launch model. Hopefully, as long as you can easily follow the instructions to disassemble and reassemble your system, it can extend the life of your system. The fan in my system sounded like a jet about to take off. With more intensive processing in new games, the old fan kept humming and annoying loudly. This fan doesn't make as much noise when the CPU gets very hot in these situations, but as other reviews have mentioned, it's still a bit noisy, making a high-pitched whistle in addition to the usual white fan noise. .Moreover, the fan is not silent unless the system is completely turned off. If you leave your system alone, you can still hear the fan spinning. Overall, this makes the system quieter, but if I could find another fan that was closer to quiet than PC fans, I would upgrade to it, even though I only bought this fan.
