Required but not included: drill, extra magnets, hygiene

This cabinet looks beautiful and my coffee/beverage station fits perfectly. HOWEVER - there were a few hiccups in the building process that I just want to bite the bullet and spend another $100 on a better product: It comes completely disassembled and you have to assemble it yourself, which takes hours. I anticipated it so it didn't really matter, but it added to my frustration with the following: They give you just enough screws to complete the product, which would be nice if they were all threaded and usable. Luckily I had a handful from IKEA that worked great so I was ready. no holes drilled in the legs at all! I had to drill my own hole, luckily I had just the right bit. Third, the magnets holding the bottom cabinet doors aren't strong enough, and the right door doesn't close completely. I'll go to the hardware store and buy something cheaper. One last thing, the top glass doors have pre-drilled holes for hinges on the sides. I screwed on the hinges, magnetic clasps, and handles, then inserted and fastened them. After experimentally closing them, I noticed that one of them was backwards. I don't know how to phrase it exactly, but a wooden cross thrown over a stained glass window is inside one door and outside another. So it doesn't fit and looks broken. I definitely thought it was my fault and wanted to go back but then realized the holes were PRE DRILLED so they put them on the wrong side! I could take it apart, drill a few more holes and then cover the outside of the holes with some putty or something, but WOW that's a lot of work for something I thought would be very easy to put together and not required nothing but a screwdriver. Another thing I noticed that's a bit annoying but not a deal breaker: the directions are weirdly jumbled. They tried to make them as Ikea instructions, with no words, just pictures, but unlike Ikea, they don't really follow a logical order. There was a step that showed three or four things I had to do in order to move on, so I did one part first, but found I had to do another part first, so I had to undo what I did had done. just did it. I hope that makes sense. There were a number of parts where the assembly pictures just didn't make sense, for example it's obviously easiest to lay the heavier part on the floor while you attach the lighter one, but the instructions showed otherwise. Again, nothing special, just a bit annoying. In any case, it will look NATURALLY great, but for the money I really should have spent a little more and gotten something less obnoxious.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • something different
