I've wanted to put a good vice in my shop for a long time. I looked on ebay for good quality old vises but found them all overpriced. Eventually I gave up and decided to get one through Revain. This one is really very beautiful. I screwed it to my desktop in the "little shop" and added a set of JCL nylon vise clamps. I am very happy with this facility. I have the FSV-4 (4 inch jaws) which is great for my purposes. These vises are forged and therefore more durable than cast iron vises. I think this one will last a lifetime. FYI, I looked at a few other vices that I think would be good choices as well. I have a list of them below * Yost 750-DI Heavy Duty 5" multi-purpose rotary combination tube and vise. (Ductile iron is better than standard cast iron) Ductile iron also looks identical to Yost to me, probably from the same factory (inferior gray iron) was I'm spot on with the first two of those listed above, I think they both look like nice well made vises, but they're a lot bigger/heavier than the one I went with, there was more money too and it is Christmas and I'm a little scared of my credit card bill rolling in. I decided I didn't need a swivel vise (although they look cool) and I'm happy with my purchase.
