Compact and powerful

I love this little speaker from PunkCase. It's very small but don't let that fool you, it's very well made. Most speakers this size only weigh a few grams. This guy weighs over a pound because it packs a high-quality 5W driver. This driver pushes out air and vibrates the edge of the table when you're playing bass-heavy music. Mids and highs are also present, but sound separation is limited due to the nature of a speaker of this size. What I liked most about this speaker: - Portability. It's small in size and 1.2 pounds, not particularly heavy in my opinion - sound quality. This speaker sounds very good. You can experience punchy bass, as well as crisp highs and punchy mids, although you may not always get them at ideal levels due to design limitations. Area. I connected this speaker to my Samsung smartphone and have traveled over 30 feet by scaling at least 4 walls. The connection remained solid and there was no audio degradation. - Charger. I love that the speaker glows red when the speaker is charging and turns off when the charge cycle is complete. I also like that it only takes about an hour and a half to fully charge this speaker. What I liked least about this speaker: - Control panel. I have big problems in this area. First, the control panel is made of embroidery material, which collects dust like no other. Given that this side needs to be lowered to get any semblance of mids or highs, it's disappointing that it's made from a material that gets dirty quickly. Second, the controls are poorly placed. The speaker sounded best when the speaker's side was facing up, which meant that this panel was hidden. I had to lift the speaker to make the necessary adjustments - micro USB connector. It's about time electronics manufacturers made USB-C the standard port for charging and syncing. You'll have to carry around an outdated cable to charge this speaker on the go. Not waterproof. At some point, such a small speaker has to be exposed to liquid. It's disappointing that there isn't even a hint of waterproofing at this price point. Overall I was very impressed with this PunkCase speaker. It's very well made, delivers more bass and volume than you'd expect from a speaker of this size, and has impressive throw. I love the small size of this speaker and how it feels like premium technology when you hold it in your hands. I wish there was better placement of controls, water resistance, and USB-C charging, so I deducted a point from the overall score for those omissions. Despite these compromises, I use this speaker on a daily basis and it almost always becomes a talking point for those who walk into my workspace without expecting such a rich, room-filling sound from such a small device.

Pros
  • Portable speakers and docking stations
Cons
  • Vulgarity

I'm was a bit shocked at how heavy it is, but that is no big deal. I love the speaker.
