Review on Convenient and Reliable Keyless Entry Remote Control for Dodge Chrysler Jeep - Pack of 2 by Victor Ewing

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Cheap cheap cheap. Somehow both keys broke. Still arguably better than buying OEM though

Technically it worked (I have a 2014 Dodge Caravan) and for the price I think it's worth the risk (hence 3 stars instead 2). However, when the dealer was programming the keys, he accidentally broke the tiny plastic clip that holds the key fob to the emergency key to which the key ring attaches. I can't attach this fob to my keychain so it's now in my emergency key box and not on my keychain (the dealer's OEM remote has a metal clip instead of the cheap plastic clips like these, so I'm guessing OEM's don't break easily ). The other 2 pack key I use on my keychain died when the battery died after 2 months of use. I tried replacing the battery but the metal contact that makes contact with the side of the battery and connects it to the circuit board is broken. I didn't put much pressure on it, so I'm convinced it's just bad design. After many tries I finally managed to solder the terminal back to the board, but I think it only worked because I was very lucky; The spot where the connector attaches to the PCB is very small and not intended for soldering with a traditional soldering iron. I'm giving 3 stars because I'll probably have to buy it again. $400 for original parts (2 keys) or $60 for it. It will be these.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • It's ok
