UPDATE 12/29/13: The second one failed after several uses. I disassembled it but I don't see what's wrong. It's not worth it. I'll just spend $4.50 and buy a real SanDisk. It is a fake. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this to be able to upload pictures directly from my smartphone's micro SD card to my iMac. The first did nothing when inserted into my iMac with a smartphone card. So I ordered a second one and it worked!. For less than $3 (with free shipping from Revain Prime) I got a working adapter. Based on feedback from all other reviewers who have had similar experiences, I would assume this is a bad production batch. Testing them individually would be too expensive for the manufacturer, so they simply decided to sell them at a discount. You might want to order 2 or even 3 to increase your chances of getting a good one and you might end up with a working replacement. Before ordering a second one, I tried to test the first failed unit to see what was wrong. The circuit board pops out when you loosen the two parts of the plastic cover. Since the circuit is just big pins connected to small pins, I used my audio continuity tester to see what's going on. I found that the big pins 3 and 4 (counting from the right) were shorted. However, there is no easy way to fix this. For $1.40 I just threw it away and bought another one.
