I2C backpack makes LCD easier to use
Although all LCDs are basically the same, this model is matched to I2C backpack, which makes it very easy to use. Rather than requiring 4 serial lines (pins) plus power and a contrast potentiometer, the backpack offers communication over a 2-wire I2C connection and has a built-in contrast potentiometer.
