The thing serves its purpose and works well (actually too well) but *extremely* firmly on a Virginia plate. I recently ordered license plates and had to take my old license plates out of this silicone "case" in order to fit new ones. I will tell you that taking the old number plates off was definitely a problem, so much so that I almost ordered new number holders because I didn't think I would be able to get the number plates back. Finally, after much tugging and tugging and toil, I took the license plate (rubber boot and all) to the kitchen sink in a last ditch effort to salvage my license plate grommets. I ran hot water all the way around the back of the mount hoping to soften the rubber material and make it a little more flexible. Of course I was able to soften the rubber enough that the edge of the old number plate slipped out and then using pliers I grabbed the edge of the number plate with one hand and with the other holding the silicone plate holder, I pulled the two apart and viola. The record finally just came out. My advice to you if you ever need to remove your old license plate for any reason: soak the rubber sheet mount in some hot water to soften the material so it can separate from the number. plate you have in it. Trust me, this will save you headaches and frustration right from the start.
