Review on Efficient and Sturdy: Makita DS4000 2 Inch Drill Handle for Easy and Accurate Drilling by Terrance Duncan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best fine tip drill bit you can buy

Well I've been tiling full time since 1982 and have several fine tip compound drill bits. Up to this point my favorite has been the Dewalt Spade 1/2 7 or 9 amp drill which is without a doubt an amazing drill but this Makita is better. It's definitely a bit heavier and doesn't have variable speed, which I didn't realize until it arrived and screwed it up, but the speed of the drill doesn't really call for it. Yes, if you're mixing a lot of small mixes, variable speed might be more appropriate, but 95% of the time I'm mixing full bags, so this isn't a problem. I can literally add water and put 50 pounds of powder in at a time and the drill mixes with no problem. It's very smooth and quiet and has a great grip. This is the Cadillac of thin-walled drills.

Pros
  • Rocker switch for quick forward/reverse switching
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
