If you don't need an ethernet connection, pass it on

The app is nice but the functionality is absurd. Requests access to the contact list and phone ID. Why exactly? My firewall is showing strange connections to some Chinese domains (tracking/application monitoring), including Baidu. The app keeps popping up before other apps, which is very annoying. Installing the application is not easy, but I managed it. The WiFi connection keeps dropping. The only reason I chose it over the competing WD Wireless drive is that it also has an Ethernet port. WiFi functionality is terrible. Updates: Wifi functionality is still terrible, slow speed even on home wifi, download from phone fails and no idea what the problem is. If it's still using Samba1 as suggested in some answers, it's a legacy and insecure protocol. Basically, it is practically a network drive connected via Ethernet or USB. It's not too bad for an Ethernet connection, but it's not very fast either. When copying many megabyte images I seem to have peaked somewhere at 7.5 MB/s / 60 Mbit/s.
