Review on Milton S 217 Style Coupler Plug by Aaron Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I wish I had switched many years ago

I heard about these when I was thinking of upgrading my home shop to a larger diameter fitting because I felt like they were limiting me. They are said to be the same diameter but flow just as well as the next larger one. Well, call me sold. I plugged them in and then checked the hole on the M-style connector and it's noticeably larger. Blow through the completed male/female coupling and it's noticeably easier to blow through the V-style. I installed them on a number of tools and tested their performance before and after, and most of them seemed to perform better. In particular, the grinder and impact. It's almost comical how fast my grinder runs compared to before the plug replacement. Another great benefit for me was that you can still plug your old M-style and T-style faucets into an outlet. I tested it with both styles. Most of them worked great, but there was one that had a tendency to leak. But still it was out of about 10 tries. So I keep the standard M-style connectors on any equipment that doesn't require a lot of air (stapler, airbrush, nail gun, etc.) so I don't want to throw away all my old connectors. As I am the decision maker in our business I have moved on to these faucets. My mechanics immediately started asking where to get them for their home businesses. I will say that I found out later that Harbor Freight has a set #68187 which is their version of this set but much cheaper. However, I've used enough Harbor Freight air fittings to know that they won't last more than a month in the store before leaking like a strainer. I also don't think their kit is compatible with other types of connectors. But at least there is an economical option. For a visual comparison of the V-Style and M-Style, search Google for "garagejournal 216005" and scroll down.
