They have changed the profile on the outsole a bit but these are pretty much the same boots I bought four years ago and so far they have been great boots that are very comfortable to wear and have good support. I have previously bought Merrill boots but they proved VERY cheap in construction (the sole literally fell off when the boots got too hot) and I was persuaded to try these as a replacement. STRONG boots, good grip on rocks, SOLID construction, and only now after four years of semi-continuous wear am I buying a replacement because the leather at the crease of my toes is now starting to tear and there is almost no tread left on the soles. You'll be DRY in wet weather and mud (but that won't help you if water is running down your boots or if rain is getting into your pants/socks, so wear raincoats or waterproof leggings if you run). wet and driving). These are great boots at a reasonable price, light enough to wear all year round and durable enough to climb mountain trails with a backpack.
