Review on Shop Fox D2056 Tool Table by Dan Weeman

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Multiple issues indicating no QA at all.

I usually work last. But life threw a lot of other expenses at me, so I chose this one because it was cheap. Well you get what you pay for. The first issue I noticed was that the leg receiver was attached to one of the legs on the wrong side of the leg. It was attached to the side with drill holes for attaching the table top. I emailed Woodstock International and after a little discussion they sent me a new leg. Of course, the process was delayed a week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Delayed vacation is not their fault, but annoying nonetheless. Tonight I was about to finish assembling the bench and noticed a notch in the table top. At this point I really didn't want to jump through hoops to get a replacement. It's chipboard and I prefer plywood anyway. I have a lot of plywood scraps to make my own quilt. The two upper struts with the Ladenfuchs sticker were glued on at an angle. Not even close right now. It's a minor thing, but again annoying. I could have straightened them out a lot myself, and I don't have very strong hands. In the end I found that I was missing 1 mounting screw. But no, I really wasn't. What appeared to be some kind of pin was actually a missing unthreaded bolt. I can't get a good picture of it, but one of the top corner pieces that attach the legs to the table top was also badly bent and was wrong. It didn't lay flat or fold with other angles. The amount of problems I've had with this relatively simple, few-component bench is almost amusing. I understand that no matter what, there will always be a lemon here or there, even on high-end devices. But I can't see myself ever buying a Fox Shop again, and that just confirms my last tool first mentality.
