I was concerned about the number of people with defective units. I wanted to make sure Star Tech solved their quality control issues. This is a new brand for me and so far I am very happy with their products. I tested all 5 ports with a flash drive, a 1TB laptop, a printer and an iPad. Charging and data transfer was comparable to a direct connection to my computer. Port connections are solid and the standard blue lights indicate which ports are active, with the exception of the charging port. The length of the power cord is industry standard, and the USB 3 cable is 3 feet long, which should be enough for most situations. The hub and 'brick' are larger and slightly heavier than the hubs I've used. Based on my experience in the industry, this usually results in more reliable parts that last longer. Some of my hubs died after a few years. Almost all my drives are USB 3 now. So I need USB 3 hubs. I have redirected my USB 2 hubs to printers and flash drives. Travelers require international standard power sockets.
