Works very well - Kickstand

This voice guard works very well. It's a solid piece of metal, so if you're installing it you'll definitely need support on the stand. As a standalone desktop stand/display, it's almost perfect. In terms of performance, I tested it in a fairly well-humidified room and recorded white noise. During playback I heard almost no background noise. Sure, that speaks volumes about the room's air conditioning and microphone, but there was very little reflected noise compared to the screenless recording. All in all this works very well for use in a home studio or in a large studio as a room isolator (recording some harmony parts while capturing room noise). It finds many good uses for completing vocal recordings. A minor complaint (not enough to topple a star) is that the foam wedges play with your eyes when you sing into them. It's actually a little weird, and both the singers we did the demo with said it was a little distracting. But arranging them with some extra backlighting helped.

Pros
  • Acoustic foam front and ventilated metal back. The two outer panels can be folded inwards for storage or to create a tighter soundproof chamber.
Cons
  • unreliable
