Review on πŸ”Œ 100W GaN Tech 4-Port PD Wall Charger with 5ft USB C Cable for MacBook, USB C Laptops, iPad Pro, iPhone 12, Pixel, Galaxy & More by Steve Arnold

Revainrating 1 out of 5

100W total. Charges my iPhone 12 up to 40% in 30 minutes with "18W " PD. Defective after 9 months.

Update 9 months later: I am reducing this from 4 stars to 1 star. I've been happy with it as a fast overnight charger for 9 months now. Connected today and listened to"crack". One of the plugs is dangling back and forth and the charger has stopped working. I haven't plugged or unplugged it many times these months. It's just a bad connector. Too bad. I liked the performance of this charger and it is detailed below in my previous review. Apple says it takes over 20W to charge my iPhone 12 as fast as possible with PD technology. This 100W charger only promises 18W PD. But I took the time to measure the charging speed and that is fast charging! 40% increase in 30 min. This is the third brand of PD charger I've tried and only the second so far to reach this level. That gets 4 stars. The reasons I don't give 5 stars are that the PD wattage isn't listed in the ad and more importantly it doesn't deliver the 20W PD needed to max charge the iPhone 12. I haven't seen any benefit from this technology nor GaN. It's supposed to allow for smaller, lighter chargers, but it's just a regular-sized power supply. Is it more efficient in converting input to output? I have no way of measuring it. For now, GaN seems like just something to brag about and doesn't offer any practical improvements in this range of chargers. So no points from me for using GaN.
