Good against strong winds when cycling, bad for protection.

TLDR: Pros: Very comfortable fit. You can put it on your ears to keep the wind from blowing. Can protect your neck from the sun when cycling. Cons: Most likely will not work as a dust filter mask. Probably inferior to tight-fitting masks designed to protect against aerosols from other people's breathing. I love the design and how they fit very well. I got them for two reasons: for more weather protection when cycling and maybe as a decent mask in times of COVID-19. This is fine for the first, but most likely useless for the second. Also, I live in the Bay Area and wouldn't trust this mask to help with the smoke we get from wildfires every year. The main disadvantage is that this mask needs to be "updated" with a dust filter. The version I ordered came with more dust filters. However, the bag they fit in is too big and doesn't seem designed for this type of filter. This means that there is no filter gap when you wear it at the top and bottom. I've tried many ways of wearing this but no matter what I do the whole filter doesn't fit in without letting a lot of air in, I suck all the air in the sides. The nose has a piece of metal in the top rim that can be looped around the nose, but it's too loose, causing the mask to open under both eyes, letting in extra air. The other mask I own is less comfortable to wear but properly fitted with the same type of filter so I know how it can work. If you want to correct your design, I suggest sewing additional elastic around the mask where the bottom of the filter should be, that's about where all the lines in the design meet at the bottom of the filter pocket. It should be a little lower in the back to be under people's ears. Also, replace one weak piece of metal with another, or use two. Forcing the air through the filter instead of bypassing it entirely can make a very good mask. If it's too tight you will suffocate, so the entire filter must be forced to form a pocket to allow air to flow through the maximum amount of filter surface. In general, I have use cases where I'm happy to have this mask, but for the advertised purpose of air filtration, I have great doubts that this mask will be of any use in its current form.
