I bought this fountain pen cleaner because of a negative review on Revain that said the cleaner I bought ruined fountain pens; Instead, they recommended this cleanser. One negative review convinced me to buy the Speedball Pen Cleaner because I bought it to use on my father's Parker 51 fountain pen which I recently inherited to try the dried ink and hardened pigment , which was in the pen to clean. over 62 years old. It took me about 3 months of regular gentle cleaning and finally I plucked up the courage to fill the pen blister and let it sit for some time overnight, but I'm always glad to have read this review! Today my father's pen writes perfectly. I like to use it every day. And I think the side effect of all the research I've done and all the cleaning I've done and the joy I've found in being able to write with a pen for the first time has gotten me into a new hobby made - fountain pen and bottled ink! The only reason I gave the Speedball 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the foaming properties of the solution, I'm assuming non-foaming ammonia was not used in the cleaner. This is normal for most pens but for some, notably the Parker 51, washing all the foam out of the pen with water is a real agony.
