I bought this because we have used 4 Waterpick Floss over the years; They just break and it's time to find an alternative. This Pursonic has received good reviews on several dental websites. It's definitely quieter than the Waterpick brand and appears to be more durable. You push the gray round dial in to turn it on and off, then turn the dial to adjust the water flow. You have no preset flow rates, you are in total control. The size is more compact than the "Family" devices, but the water tank is enough for one-time use. The handset is on the outside of the holder; The way it hangs is a little different, but it works. Every 30 seconds, the device pauses briefly so you can control how long you use it. I've had it for about 2 weeks and I really like it. It's a bit more expensive than some, but since the cheaper ones break after a year or so, it's worth it!
