I used this to cover and protect my existing hardwood floors and hardwood stairs (two different brands of factory finished imitation hardwood) when installing carpet in other rooms. Worked very well. I tested it on scraps for a few days before placing it on the real ground to make sure it didn't damage the surface. Left it for four days, picking it up easily without damaging the ground it covered. After sinking, air pockets form in the material, which burst less loudly than the packaging bubbles, but are similar to them. It's not a silent surface, but it does the job well. You install it by twisting the tube in the opposite direction. The sticky surface is on the outside of the roll, not the inside like a regular roll of tape. I found it easiest to start laying, then kneel at the beginning and push the roll forward in front of you.
