I have a Tetra Whisper 40. Easy to attach to the inlet pipe. You can adjust the suction power and the flow rate. I have it open almost wide to keep the surface current moving. It sounds like water is flowing down the drain. However, it makes my water so beautiful that I forgive it. I believe every surface skimmer makes this noise. Supplied with various adapters. Cleaned my oily surface on my 20 gallon in minutes! It's worth every penny and I highly recommend it if you have an oily/flaky finish on your tank. My water is so clear that when you look at the aquarium you can't even tell where the surface is unless you're looking at the waterline because it's so clear now. I have axolotls; it really helps!
