To use it with the Fluval AquaClear 70 I had to use a small strip of neoprene to make the diameter big enough. Also, I had to put a sponge around the bottom water intake otherwise it would suck in like any other water intake for example roast or moss. I also have an AquaClear 70 in the tank and this sponge inlet goes all the way down too. So I filter on three levels. HOB = hang on behind.

My tank always got some slime or an oily surface; that clarified the situation. I'm using it with the Filstar XP-M API on 55G; of the complete rubber connectors, one is smaller and the other is a bit oversized; It has a retaining ring in the middle that I could get to stay on the API inlet and then the rest was enough to hold it to make it work. You can "adjust" the flow of the bottom grille (this one slides in/out) and mine is fully extended and seems to be working fine.

I wanted to try this inexpensive surface skimmer for my Aquaclear 70. As stated in another review, the adapters provided do not fit the filter intake pipe. I used some non-stick gum to make up the difference. The kit itself is fine for something in the 20, maybe 30 gallon range, but on the aquaclear 70 it reduced the filter flow so much that the pump barely works. If you have an aquaclear 70 and need surface skimming, spend the extra $35 and get a magnetic skimmer box.

Set this to 10 gallons and the surface will be crystal clear in about half an hour. It was pretty easy to set up with the Aquean Quiet Flow 10. The exception is one adapter is too small and the other doesn't fit snugly, I had to use a suction cup to support the hose and press it firmly against the inlet. Filter. This surface skimmer is easy to mount (on an external filter). It has few details and once set it works as it should. Parts are inexpensive. The skimmer must be checked regularly to ensure that the 3 water inlets (each water inlet is then divided into 2) are clean and free of plant debris (e.g. duckweed) blocking surface water flow. 2 hands required to adjust. I bought this as a surface skimmer for my Aquatop CF400UV 4 Stage Canister Filter which runs in an 89 gallon freshwater aquarium. The Aquatop canister has a skimmer connection on the inlet pipes but no skimmer mount. I used the float, downspout and suction cup from this skimmer. The dip tube fits over the skimmer connection of the Aquatop suction tube. A good solution for €15 and takes up little space in the aquarium. I have a Tetra Whisper 40. Easy to attach to the inlet pipe. You can adjust the suction power and the flow rate. I have it open almost wide to keep the surface current moving. It sounds like water is flowing down the drain. However, it makes my water so beautiful that I forgive it. I believe every surface skimmer makes this noise. Supplied with various adapters. Love the design. However, this applies to filters with smaller pumps. Also another reviewer said his Aquaclear 110 works great. Let me clarify the situation. It does NOT match the Aquaclear 110 at all! The device comes with a 1/2" and 3/4" adapter. The Aquaclear 110's intake stem is 1 inch in diameter. For my purposes it works great without major modifications. I have a 30 gallon fresh water tank that I wanted to clean the surface of and it works great with my back hanging filter (Tetra Whisper Power Filter). Connected easily.
