I bought this external drive because of my great experience with another large G-Tech external drive that I use as my Mac Time Machine backup. G-Drives are pre-formatted for use with Apple computers. Connect G-Drive to your Mac and you're good to go. This particular G-Drive acts as my photo archive. I bought it because it's portable and comes with a fairly durable waterproof case. Even the USB 3.0 port has a rubberized connector. This is a 7200 RPM drive, so data transfer is fast considering it's a mechanical drive. The drive itself can be removed from the case and used with a Lightning cable. The Clean drive is very light, compact and quiet. Inside the case, it's virtually silent. The only minor downside is that the USB cable is quite short, but it fits nicely in the external notch and USB slot. Only time will tell how durable these hard drives are.
