I liked how solid it felt when opening. I have no doubt that this pillow protector lives up to its promise, you can feel its thickness. In addition, the softness of terry cloth can be felt on the top, while a more durable material can be felt on the bottom. I have some very large, thick, king-size pillows, and even after I put this cover on, there was room at each end. I was surprised my pillows didn't fill out the cover. So if you're concerned about their fit, they go well with larger pillows. I always use pillowcases for pillows and thought I'd spend them as I ordered silk pillowcases to use over that. That's where I have the problem. As soon as I put on a king-size silk pillowcase, the excess protection clumped up and formed creases that I didn't smooth out no matter what I did. You can see in the photos where I folded them behind the throw pillow, the edges are all gathered weirdly and that left a gap in the silk pillowcase, when the same pillows usually fill silk pillowcases completely it was just a messy look. everything just glued together. Also, the protector stuck to my pillow so tightly that my head couldn't sink into the pillow, it felt like I was sleeping on a board that wouldn't move an inch. I think if you're using traditional pillowcases and need something more waterproof than these cold ones, that's great. I gave it four stars because it's definitely a quality product that does what it says on the tin. However, this comes at the cost of a very rough, non-moving pillowcase that didn't go well with my silk pillowcases. When I slept on it one night it was uncomfortable because the protector didn't allow my pillow to move and shift smoothly, I woke up with a terrible headache. The same setup worked great when I used a lower quality, thinner, smoother pillowcase. I had to return them because they just ruined my pillow which couldn't sink and move with me. The fabric cover which I thought was luxurious just stuck to my pillow, crumpled up (the photo shows how the tread is dented, it stuck to the pillow so terribly and didn't let silk pillowcases sit properly. Back to thin and cheaper pillow protector so my head can actually sink into the pillow.
