So these are terrycloth pillowcases like mattress pads. From the outside they look like a very, very thin towel. They are lined with plastic from the inside. I liked how solid it felt when opening. I have no doubt that this pillow protector lives up to its promise, you can feel its thickness. In addition, the softness of terry cloth can be felt on the top, while a more durable material can be felt on the bottom. I have some very large, thick, king-size pillows, and even after I put this cover on, there was room at each end. I was surprised my pillows didn't fill out the cover. So if you're concerned about their fit, they go well with larger pillows.
