So these are terrycloth pillowcases like mattress pads. From the outside they look like a very, very thin towel. They are lined with plastic from the inside. I keep these mattress pads on my beds because my dogs are always on my bed. They work very well. I'm sure these pillows will work just as well, except for one issue - they sound crunchy in the pretty zip-lock packaging they came in because of that plastic coating. I'm the lightest, most demanding sleeper. I would hear every crunch. So I think I should return them. I even asked a question asking if they were loud and crunchy and was told NO. Not true. Shame as I know they are probably the best protection for my pillows but I don't want to lose sleep over them. I hope this is helpful.
