This does exactly what is advertised and allows me to separate the audio from the HDMI signal and pass it through to my audio system. The sound quality from the system is amazing - great for movies and concerts, but over the top for things like listening to the news. Luckily I can still hear the TV speakers if I don't want to leave the whole system running. My only criticism of the device is that cables come out on both sides, making it a bit clunky. This is definitely something you'll want to keep your eyes off. It's a "set it and forget it" element (there are no buttons or switches that remain accessible), so it's not a problem.
