That's how it should have started, so this device is nothing more than a digital voltmeter. Just for my personal investigation I compared the readings to three other digital LCD meters, the oldest I have is Micronta 22-167, Emco Eletronics DMR-3520, Fluke 17-B Multimeter and Southwire 22070t 1000A AC/DC Current Clamp Multimeter RMS current. Now, after testing 4 meters, the AUTOOL Battery System Tester showed the same readings as other multimeters, except for two ranges. 1st area is the battery test. I tested AUTOOL on two different vehicles. one is a full-size pickup and the other is a full-size SUV. In both cases, AUTOOL indicates that I need to replace both batteries in my car. both batteries are 850 CCA batteries and both were replaced 1 year ago. When both machines were running both batteries were very well charged and they read 14.2 to 14.6 volts but also read 2 to 3 thousand amps?. The second area is the so-called stress test. The test showed that all electronics, headlights and AC power on both cars are working at full capacity, AUTOOL showed a voltage of 14.5 volts. So why would you call it a load test when a charge test would show a change in voltage when all the electronics, lights and AC power are on? the so-called LOAD test is not a real stress test. In my opinion a true LOAD test should measure the current drawn from the electrical charging system and for this I use a Southwire 22070T 1000 Amp AC/DC RMS Clamp Multimeter. This meter gives you the true value of your current load. therefore, the LOAD test on AUTOOL is superfluous during the load test. So reading the instructions I can't find how to explain the 2-3k amp reading. this is a normal device but the battery tester is questionable.
