After much research I decided to buy a Fox belt sander. I wanted to avoid port freight tools and wanted something I thought was average. I previously bought a bench grinder and it has worked flawlessly in our shop for many years. Advantages of a grinder include its heavy weight and easy on and off. Its belt sander has an excellent platform and sands all surfaces evenly. It has a well built feel, just what we needed for light to medium use on softwoods like pine and spruce. The only downside I've found is that you can stop the sanding belt if you put heavy material on it and press hard to remove more material. It was easy to see when my 14 year old used it and I quickly showed him how not to put too much strain on the harness. Overall I'd say it's great value for money and seems well made enough to last many years of daily use in our shop.
