I like how easy it is to install, all you need is your package manager (pacman) installed and you're good to go. The default configuration is great and can be changed to suit personal preferences.Archlinux is free software, so there's no support costs. There are some dependencies you may need to have pacman or AUR installed as well, but these are often available in other linux distros as well. If you have an ubuntu machine lying around, have a look at archlinux. You'll get what you're looking for! I'm primarily using it for development of small web applications and I find it to be faster than my previous OS of choice which was Windows 7.
