Review on Leofoto CF-LN-324C Carbon Fiber Bowl Tripod Legs by Patrick Carlson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great tripod by any standard

I bought the Leofoto LN-324C together with the LH-40 head 18 months ago. I am a professional photographer and have taken about 25,000 shots with this tripod and head in that time. I have 9 tripods plus heads and related products from Gitzo, Manfrotto, Sirui, Slik, Giottos, Nodal Ninja, Desmond, Neewer and more. The LN-324C and LH-40 are by far the best of the bunch (including the Gitzo). You could save 8 ounces by spending triple the price of a set of RRS legs and more per head, but while I've used RRS gear I can't justify the cost - no matter how hard I try. Leofoto's equipment is impeccably made and every detail is almost perfect. This tripod is smooth as silk and as strong as anything of its size. My Nodal Ninja Gear comes second, my Gitzo third, and Sirui fourth. ALL of these brands are fully suitable for photography. At 6.0 pounds including the LH-40 head, the LN-324C is heavy but extremely strong. I'm willing to wear this combo for a few miles but not much more. I bought it for use in a variety of adverse conditions including strong winds, running water and cold temperatures. My well-used aluminum Gitzo 320 (with a Giottos MH-3300 head) weighs an impressive 8.9 pounds. and it's good to sit on deep rapids or big waves - but not too far from the car. My Sirui 2205X and other lighter joysticks go on longer hikes. Not everyone can justify owning multiple tripods, but if I had to keep just one, it would be the LN-324C! Considering the price, this is perhaps the best value tripod from Systematic 3. This tripod appears to have found use in sports photography, but not photography. The quality and value is exceptional so I can only conclude that Leofoto's marketing is missing something. In the meantime, this is really a bargain for a high-quality tripod.
