It's a good size for small kids, but the sound quality is terrible. If you are the ideal distance from the microphone and speak at the ideal volume, you may be heard on the other end. The button placement is not very good. Every kid I gave one to immediately pressed the big button on the front of the walkie-talkie. It's not a talk button. This is the menu button. The talk button is a small, unlabeled button on the side. The menu isn't big either. They also turn off randomly. Sometimes after 10 minutes of inactivity, sometimes after a minute. This is contradictory and disappointing. For the large size, the range is pretty decent, but unfortunately that just means you can hear unintelligible gibberish at a distance.
