I'm not sure why so many of these loads or clamps or whatever you call them are SO expensive. Honestly even 25-30 dollars seems high but it's not too much. It's exactly what I was hoping for - some of the super cheap ones seemed too light to be effective, but this one at around 1lb provides enough holding pressure on the disc without the timing of the belt drive. If you're like me, you collect a lot of used records, some of them are 20-60 years old. Some of these old rascals need extra help to get on the plate properly, as do some of the new ones. Also, there is significantly less audible vibration or strange movement from the movements of nearby people. This weight does its job and helps the stylus move smoothly across any disc. The only criticism is that the weight is a bit heavier than expected and my dust cover can't close it. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.
