In my previous car I had a suction cup that regularly came loose when the temperature in the car was too high. My new car doesn't have room for a suction cup so I had to look for an alternative. I know it's a small purchase, but it's a matter of convenience, so I did a little research and settled on this mount. Initially I was concerned that the vent would be blocked. The ability to rotate the swing arm solves this problem. I also don't like the idea of my phone sticking very high above the dashboard. Again, there are no problems because of the swing arm. The ability to hook and tighten the air vent mount ensures the mount stays in place. After all, the magnet has an ideal strength. I attached a round piece of metal directly to the cover that attaches to the phone case. At first I was concerned that the force of the magnet would require such force to detach the phone that I would either take the top cover off or remove the bracket or worse the grille. No problem. I'm always amazed when I get out of the car and rip my phone out of the holder without any problems. It was the perfect solution for my needs!
