Useful learning tool

Yes, I was initially hesitant to use these collars. I avoided that and probably made my two puppies "overeager" to train them, but I may have actually bribed them. This collar was recommended to me by two dog trainers and I understand that others may not. Both of my puppies are from 7 different breeds (canine DNA tested) and are large dogs. They are amazing, incredibly sweet, loving dogs. I was afraid I would make her distrust me and I was afraid I would rob her of her loving and sweet nature by using this training collar. Luckily I was so wrong. Because these are large puppies (67 and 80 pounds), they don't know their own strength, get overstimulated, and focus more on getting what they want than on training walks. When used correctly, and I mean really correctly, they are amazing training tools. I also have to admit that they are amazing safety features for me as my dogs will not chase a squirrel or anyone while I walk them with these collars on. I quickly believed all the information from the many YouTube videos I watched and shared with the trainers I tagged. These collars are a very humane way to train dogs. This also only applies if used correctly. Admittedly at first I thought these collars were worth trying and I didn't have to keep using them if I didn't want to or didn't like them. Before using these collars, I used harnesses designed to reduce the strain of walking. I practically "fought" with them, trying to limit their movement forward, sideways, or any other direction they wanted me to take. My pups didn't understand why they were being restricted and it was a constant struggle. To tell the truth, we didn't enjoy walking and didn't get too close. As soon as I used these collars they noticed almost immediately that they were controlling their correction. This helped them pick a good walk and focus on our walk. Yes, I heard two light squeaks for the first time ever. yes i hated it I knew they weren't hurt or suffocated. You were surprised. do you blame them Unfamiliar with these collars, they got used to taking me for walks. It was the only soft squeak I've heard since using them. My neck, shoulders and back are also thanks to these collars. The most important thing is that my dogs really like them. Sincerely. They know they wear them every time we go for a walk. I take off the collars and they are really excited. They are very well behaved on the streets of our city and I get compliments on my dogs who just turned 1 year old. I emphasize once again that the collar should be used as a training tool for which it is intended. If you follow the instructions of the trainers, these collars will be fun. It helps my dogs learn their boundaries, self correct (they are in control) and enjoy our walks. And yes I do give treats with these collars on during the walk if they do what I ask like sit in the corner. I don't really use collars anymore except for walking on a leash. I found that using it for walking was enough to allow my dogs to train better with me in other conditions. These collars are well made. You are strong. They are very strong. I am guessing they come in black. These collars are stronger and more secure than the ones I see at pet stores. Like any training collar, it will eventually fail. So I use a carabiner to attach them to a regular collar while walking. I also bought extra hooks to avoid this potential tag by swapping hooks.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
