Review on πŸ’» HumanCentric Vertical Laptop Stand for Desks (Space Gray): Adjustable Holder for Organizing MacBook, MacBook Pro, and More in Work & Home Office by Brad Russell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Has a hidden and unmentioned function to work in clamshell mode

You'll see this stand on a lot of YouTuber Tech Reviewer influencers' desks, which is understandable considering it's only half the size is expensive like its round competitor from 12 South. Many other reviews cover most aspects fairly well, but here's one more detail. The peculiarity of clamshell mode in macOS is that all useful functions you use when connected via Thunderbolt are not active until the computer is turned on and logged in. Apple's Bluetooth accessories seem to be an exception. That means removing the laptop from its stand, opening it up, hitting the power button and, depending on whether you get keyboard activation, you may have to enter your passcode on the MacBook itself. This is important because most stands force you to pick up your MacBook, point it at it with one hand, and control it with the other. Maybe as silly as a magic mouse charging port 2 on the bottom of a mouse, or an apple pencil sticking out of iPads as a joke for a tech reviewer's April Fool's joke. I miss a computer where all parts are internally replaceable and resent that Apple promises to fix it but values almost everyone on the market and leaves us in eternal hell with keys made up of potential points of failure. But this stand makes that part of hell 2% less annoying, which is more than most of the competition's stands. I would like the next version to include a rubber flex in the middle, thinner and wider along the flex axis. Pros: Less expensive than direct competitors with a similar fit and finish, the rubber flex fits many different models and also allows you to use the power button. , anodized finish fits well (with Macbook Space Gray) Cons: not wide enough tabletop on rubber flex axle to feel as solid as possible, rubber flex is a bit wider for newer macbokk (little wobble)
