Review on 🐾 PawHut Elevated Cooling Pet Bed with UV Protection Canopy Shade - Portable Dog Cot by Crystal Spicer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great except for the thin clips that attach the top to the base

Pros: - They really are great as rain and shade shelter for a stray dog. - I was very impressed with how solid and well built the base is. It takes some serious muscle to stretch the floor over the posts and the velcro is very heavy. The weight of the base and the shape of the top make it difficult to blow away or blow away on a windy day or storm. Cons: The way the dome attaches to the base is downright awful. It uses standard flexible tent poles that flex at the corners, but lacks a locking mechanism to attach the poles to the base. The only "attachment" mechanism is a very flimsy, flimsy plastic clip on a very flimsy and flimsy rubber band at the corners. A little chewing or even simple tugging by the pet will destroy these elastic and plastic clips, and then the top will not securely attach to the base. This is a really annoying and very serious design flaw. If you have the tools and your hands you can drill holes in the corner poles at the base and add some set screws to press the tent poles into the support poles. Then neither pulling nor biting nor pulling can separate the poles of the tent from the base. You can also swap out crappy plastic clips and rubber bands for flimsy steel cables and stainless steel fasteners and you'll be fine. Too bad you have to spend a few hours and another $20-$30 to fix a product that arguably is so expensive to start with.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • So far so good
