Example: If you simply buy a cheaper microfiber like Walmwrt that comes in multi-colored packaging and is labeled as premium microfiber (no, it's nothing else), your car will get scratched. Microfiber is not pure cotton it is a plastic base and cheaper ones like this are not common enough and can scratch your clear coat. Migrofiber is rated to the GSM standard and 400GSM is usually the minimum for premium towels. Meguires, the so-called Premium, don't have a good GSM rating either, but they're at least soft enough not to scratch. So I use them wet or wet for application and use good ones for removal be it polish, quick wax or detailing spray.
