Updated overview - the main issue here relates to the remote desktop audio settings. So the default settings resulted in the remote computer (my Win 10 HTPC) playing audio on the other computer (Win 7 laptop). By going into the remote desktop settings on a Win 7 box I was able to change this to only play sound on the remote computer. If you leave it on the default, the Win 10 box will have a "remote audio" device installed that will prevent HDMI audio capture. After I changed the sound in OBS it worked as it should. The item was shipped quickly and as described. I recognized it as a camera and also via sound/video and connected to OBS normally, but there was no sound. This is my second such case with the capture box on this machine. The seller was helpful and had good communication but had to return it after a few days. It looks like there is an issue with Windows 10's USB driver that is preventing the box's sound from being recognized. The box firmware has been updated to 1.10 and all Windows updates have been applied as well as the machine's BIOS and related updates. New USB and HDMI cables were used. My installation is W10 Professional 64 v. 10.0.17134OBS V.23.1Ryzen 7-1700 with OEMG skill DDR4 x 16GB with OEMGigabyte GA-AX370 rev. 1.0 (has USB 3.1) GeForce GT730 This was a box with some nice features so I'm disappointed it didn't work with my computer. My next boxing attempt will be Elikleev.
