Review on Invicta INVICTA-9937 Men's Pro Diver Swiss Automatic Watch: Coin-Edge Elegance by Ken Ventura

15 years ago I was an official dealer of Invicta watches. This particular line of Swiss 26 Jewel Invicta watches has always been a very high quality watch so I finally decided to get one for myself. I already own many other watches from the Invicta line, from basic quartz watches to several of their 21 jewel automatic models. The 9937 is billed as Invicta's highest quality automatic diver's watch and I was very pleased with it. When I opened the box I was a bit disappointed as the quality of the packaging was not the quality I was used to many years ago. when I was a dealer. I actually thought the watch was in use as there were a few small scratches and the warranty card wrapper was clumsily pressed into the lid of the watch box and the paper was torn. It seemed that before it was some kind of display. I would return it but I was driving out of town and wanted to wear the watch on the go so I kept it. At first everything seemed solid. Aside from the aforementioned scratches, the build quality was very good. The bracelet is nice and thick, the clasp closes with a reassuring click and the weight is perfectly balanced. Overall the watch seemed very good so when I got back from my trip I decided to just keep it. I've been wearing them for about 6 months now and unfortunately it went bad. Although the bracelet and watch case have survived, the mechanism itself is highly questionable. Stops working all the time. Even after I've just wound it up, if I screw the crown back in, the watch will lock. I have to unscrew it and try again. Sometimes shaking frees the movement. I also have an automatic watch winder and no matter what setting I try to adjust, the movement still stops even when it is in the winding mechanism. Just prior to the problems with my watch I decided to buy my dad one for his birthday and when it arrived my suspicions about the packaging were confirmed. His watch box was much nicer, there wasn't a single scratch on the watch, the warranty card holder was in perfect condition and overall everything was perfect. As the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover. Three weeks later his watch stopped working. The seconds hand is simply locked and moves forward a few seconds, then back a few seconds, then forward etc. I've since returned it to Revain. I am very disappointed in the quality of the 9937 having bought two of these watches. . Unfortunately, due to two bad experiences with this watch model, I cannot recommend it.* UPDATE: Now the watch is completely non-functional. I would give zero stars but one is the lowest it allows. This happened to 2 of the 9937 watches pictured above. Very disappointing.
