Sheer tongue: Athletic

It's really impossible to downgrade a product, it is what it is. Its flaws are not the fault of the seller, but are inherent in the design. I bought these shoes after reading an article that listed different shoes that were considered suitable for tall runners. There are two things about these shoes that are not true. They have a razor thin tongue and a poor lacing system. The laces are smooth and the eyelets are made of hard plastic. Combination means you can't put on the laces you've learned and expect them to stay that way while you tie them. If you managed to get the laces in place long enough to tie them tight, you would injure the top of the foot through the paper tongue. This is also important to understand. It's the design of the shoe, not the seller, that creates that perfect storm of uncomfortable fit. Expect your heel to slip a bit, especially since you can't secure the laces all the way to the heel cup. Shoes arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I'm looking for heavier laces to match or complement the color of the shoe so I can lock them in better. I think the slippage in the heel cup will go away once they break in, leaving only the uncomfortable laces. There is some sort of extra grommets (can't tell for sure if they were for decorative or practical purposes, but the lace length that comes with it is too short to use. With long enough laces you could create a lacing pattern that added more passes of paper tongue around Reduce discomfort when getting dressed.
