Review on Swift Lacis Yarn Winder by Kelly Caballes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal! I will never live without again!

I have been spinning yarn from my own wool from my own sheep for 15 years. I had my own method of winding yarn onto a washer and dryer stand. Then the tedious process of manually unwrapping it from the rack so I can use my ball wrapper to make a center pull. What's the use of spending 30 minutes winding a ball of yarn on a roller, now it takes 5 minutes! I use this Swift horizontally as the instructions recommend. I use my free hand as I wrap the winder to guide the yarn, keeping it centered as it comes off the scissors. It's immaculate. I also installed Swift so that the rod is fully retracted so the swift doesn't have a foot sticking out of the table. This makes it durable. I use 100% large balls of yarn, 60 inches long, for this item and have absolutely no problems. I roll big strands, not small ones. My elevator is a very big metal one, not one of those little plastic ones. I think when people have problems it's more a human fault than a mechanical one as this rapid traverse works well and effortlessly. Take my Swift off the table, roll it up and store it in my drawer. I love how small it gets for storage. There are absolutely no questions about it. I roll big strands, not small ones. My winder is metal, very big, not one of those little plastic ones. I don't use the case it came in as I don't want to change the position of the clip to put it back in. I simply take my swift off the table, fold it up and hide it in a drawer.
