You seem to get what you pay for. The price was the lowest of any of these sets, but the barber's cape was the highest quality item in the set. I tried to cut my mother's hair but she was crying that the scissors were pulling her hair and not cutting her. I also had to try different angles and locations on the blades to get them to actually cut their hair. I would also NOT recommend using thinning scissors unless you know what you are doing or have a plan to experiment without making yourself or the object look like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
