Review on Smart Outdoor Outlet Compatible HomeKit by Fredrick Edwards

Great outdoor socket with handy remote control

I bought this weather protection socket with two sockets about a year ago and was very satisfied. (see my review). I was so impressed that I decided to add another one to my garden to help me turn the lights on and off. I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only did they add an extra power outlet to the device, but they also made some nice improvements. The first improvement was the doors that prevent water from entering the sockets. They're a bit handier and easier to use, although I've never complained about the previous version. They also added the ability to use this socket with HomeKit on my iPhone and other iOS devices. It was very helpful to control iOS with my device. I no longer need an Alexa box around me to switch sockets on and off. Sure, I could use Alexa on iOS to control devices, but with HomeKit I can just say "Hey Seri" and then execute a command without having to open the Alexa app first. This device, like the other, has a very nice thick power cord and plug. So I don't feel like using all three switched outlets at once draws too much power from the three plugs. Another great feature of this device is the ability to name and control each of the sockets independently. In contrast to my X10 equipment, I don't just have 1 switched output and 1 unswitched output. With this device I have a great deal of control over all available outlets. There is also an additional waterproof button on the top of the box for turning sockets on and off and for easier programming. My only criticism of this unit is the length of the power cord that goes from the box to the wall. I measured it at 6 inches. While that's probably enough for most people, I wish it had a few more inches so it could reach from the top outlet in my house to the floor so I could plug it in there. a small nail or hook on the back of the unit (see photo) so you can hang it on the wall and it will work. I think I can see why they did that, perhaps to actually keep the unit off the ground so water doesn't pool around the block when it rains. In general I would advise anyone who needs full control of 3 independent outlets in close proximity to choose a Meross 3 outlet switch.
